Drawing from Acts 1:8, Fred Luter, senior pastor of Franklin Avenue Church in New Orleans, La., preached about how the early disciples were able to turn “the world upside down” in their neighborhoods, cities, nations and the ends of the world.

God’s heart is always passionate about those outside of a relationship with Him. He cries and seeks for each living person on our planet, no matter if this person is worshiping other gods or claiming to be an atheist. This is also the “church planting” heart.

Kim Hardy, the keynote speaker for the Ministers’ Wives Brunch, which was held during the Nov. 8-10 annual meeting of the Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware in Towson, Md., understands this statistics. She has spent the last 23 years alongside her husband in ministry, the last four as a church planter’s wife.

Christmas is a time of celebration and traditions. Because we have blended traditions at our house we have many. But there is one tradition that is perhaps a bit unusual.

Arundel Association Crossroads Church, Odenton, will have a Christmas community outreach on Dec. 13. For the first part of the afternoon, the church will  have family fun time with crafts, refreshment, and pictures with Santa. General Mission Board members met with the North American Mission Board (NAMB) representatives during a question and answer session on Oct. 20, 2009 to review the Strategic Focus City (SFC)/Embrace Baltimore initiative as it draws to a close this month. This was in response to questions posed to Bob Mackey, executive director of Embrace Baltimore at the May 5, 2009 General Mission Board (GMB) meeting. At that time, Mackey pledged to get the answers for the GMB and report back at a future date.
