Ninety percent of conversions (from those who are not Christians and then become Christians) occur by the age of 24, Art Murphy told around 50 children’s ministry leaders on May 21. Fifty percent of these conversions happen before the person is 12 years old!

August 2009: VBS kids write and record their own songs at First English, Frostburg

First English Church had VBS in July and used the Boomerang Express curriculum. They had fun with the “Aussi” theme and the music at the worship rally, but First English added a bit more. Church member Todd Vogtman owns a home music studio. Vogtman brought his equipment to the church and recorded the children singing praise music and he worked with the youth to write and record their own original song.

August 2009: Haitian church draws 1,000 people for celebration

Englise Baptiste du Calvaire (Calvary Baptist Church) is the largest Haitian church in the Washington D.C. suburbs, drawing over 500 people weekly. Some folks come from an hour’s drive away to attend services each Sunday. The church, started by a Haitian refugee, Jean St. Ulme, recently packed their auditorium and parking lot with double its usual number for a spectacular 27th anniversary service on May 16.
